City Council Meetings for the Month of January are January 7th and January 21st at 5:00 p.m.

Municipal Court will be held on Tuesday January 8, 2012 beginning at 5:oo p.m.

The City of McIntyre is currently requesting bids for curbside garbage pick up for approximately 290 locations. The contract will be for two years, beginning on January 1, 2013 and ending on December 31, 2014.

Specifications are as follows:
1. Garbage pick up shall be on Monday of each week.

2. 90-gallon roll out containers shall be issued to existing customers and an inventory of 5 containers shall be supplied to the Street Department for new customers. Containers will be locked at a location provided by the City of McIntyre.

3. The contractor shall pay all landfill fees.

4. The contractor shall bill at one-month intervals.

5. The contractor shall maintain workers compensation and comprehensive general liability insurance with limits not less than $1,000,000. Copies of insurance must be submitted with bid.

Employee News
Two of our McIntyre employees have experienced loss during this holiday season. Shawn Ring of the McIntyre Police department and Antion Todd of the McIntyre Street department both loss their homes due to fires.

Funds have been set up for both Antion Todd and Shawn Ring at the Wilkinson County Bank. Contributions for the Todd family may be made to the Antion Todd Fund and contributions for the Ring family may be made to Shawn Ring for Mason Ring. All donations will be appreciated.

Library Research – construction of East Wilkinson County Library, presented documents.

McIntyre did not build EWCL, EWCL was built through grant funds.

Reconsideration of funds to be issued to the library.

 

MOTION  was made to give the library the additional $7000 stated in the budget by Moore.

Discussion – other avenues concerning funds for the library.

No opposition, motion carries.

 

Suggestion made by Carswell concerning how money should be disbursed to the library in future.

 

Striping – Asbell, Macon Rd, Julian Roberts, Vinson Rd, Railroad St, and Old Irwinton RD.

Quote for $7600.

Budget considered $7000.                                     

Mayor asked if the SPLOST could be used for the purpose of striping the roads.

Will ask county to use motor grader.

Will have to clean edges.

 

Dilapidated Houses – removal and cleanup.

 

Landscaping – sprinkler system heads broken and not working right.

Quote of $50./hr, will replace sprinkler heads and give invoice for new heads .

Moore stated that Mark says there may be some sprinkler heads in the water department.

Mayor asked how long would the job take.

John asked if it would be an eight hour job, Mr. Moore stated yes.

Question to consider other, other option made to have our people do the job.

Question concerning equipment, will see if our people can do the job before decision is made.

 

Bids – landscaping grounds.

Question concerning bid by the Mayor, as to whether the bids were estimated or proposed.

Statement of bid by Moore.                      

No vote made on bid advertisement.

Presentation of sketch by Moore.

Pressure washing bid presented.

Question concerning amount in bid got bid amount $6690., Moore stated that he can possibly get a reduction.

Bid to remain on table until determination is made.

Classes for cpr, trying to get Heart Of Georgia Technical out of Savannah to come and teach depending on how much the charge, since the prior class quote was too high. (Note Correction should read Sandersville, instead of Savannah)

 

Mixon

Spray for mosquitos – asked if we have sprayed for the year.

Sprayer is torn up, we have someone coming on Tuesday to service it.

 

David McCree

Dilapidate houses – is checking into the issue to see what can be done about the houses.

Trucks – gave an update as to when the trucks would be in.

Stated that they will be in any day.

Park, AC unit has gone out, received a quotefrom Sappe’s for $4300.

Prior quote was given 18 months ago from Sappe’s.

Mixon pointed out the second quote amount on the quote for $3950.

One for AC with electric heat and the other for a two ton heat pump.

 

Motor grader, to see if the county can get one for the city for the purpose of cutting down edges.

 

Moving playground equipment, old swings, etc.

Have road and water crew do it, but will have to consider overtime.

 

Mayday – donations from car show proceeds

Discussion concerning how the donations are to be handled.

Proceeds have not been issued at present.

 

 

Suggestion made by Mayor to keep the donations for someone in the city of McIntyre.

 

MOTION was made to split the proceeds from car show between a citizen of McIntyre and Asia Smith by Carswell.

Status on the fire hydrant, Mayor stated that we are working on it.

Ms. Shinholster – concerns of potholes on Vinson RD needing to be repaired.

Concerns of the potholes have been turned in to LARP, Moore will check on issue.

 

Expression of appreciation for the funds being given to the EWCL.

 

Beverly Clark – open invitation to council members to join the EWCL council, with Katherine Scott volunteering to become a member.
